Application of hybrid synchronous motors for the extraction and transportation of liquid natural resources

Relevance. The article is devoted to the study of the efficiency of using synchronous hybrid motors for systems of liquid natural resources extraction and transportation. The relevance of the work is driven by the increasing requirements for energy efficiency and reliability of drive equipment in the oil and gas and water management sectors. Aim. Technical efficiency assessment of introducing synchronous hybrid motors into systems for the extraction (electric submersible pump units) and transportation (main pumping stations) of liquid natural resources. Object. Synchronous hybrid motor for driving pump units in systems for extraction and transportation of liquid natural resources. Methods. Mathematical and simulation modeling of hybrid synchronous motor operating processes under typical load conditions. Results. The paper introduces the comparative analysis of the electromechanical characteristics of hybrid synchronous motors and widely used induction motors. Particular attention is focused on such parameters as power factor, overload capacity, and resistance to load fluctuations characteristic of deep-well pumps and mainline pipeline pumps. It was established that, with an overall length half that of induction motors, synchronous hybrid motors develop 15–20% higher starting torque and maintain an efficiency of 95–98% over a wide load range. The power factor of hybrid synchronous motors is close to unity (0.88), which eliminates the need for compensating units from the circuit. Hybrid synchronous motors represent a highly efficient and economically feasible alternative to traditional drive systems for pumping equipment in the oil, gas, and water pumping industries, thereby contributing to substantial optimization of energy costs.
