Analysis of unbalanced power consumption in urban electric networks feeding the household load of consumers
Relevance. The need to develop measures to reduce additional losses and improve the quality of electrical energy in urban power grids of 0.4 kV, due to asymmetrically non-sinusoidal power consumption. Aim. To analyze the operating modes of the 0.4 kV urban electric grid, as well as to develop measures to improve the quality and reduce electric energy losses. Object. Urban electric networks that supply consumers of housing and communal services. Subject. Operating modes of these networks. Methods. Methods of electrical circuit theory, numerical analysis, as well as proprietary methods and software for calculating unbalanced operating modes. Results. The author substantiates the idea of combining asymmetrically non-sinusoidal power consumption into a single unbalanced mode, suggests indicators for its characteristics and establishes their acceptable values. Based on the developed software, the author carried out the calculation of indicators characterizing unbalanced power consumption and established the level of additional power losses at the studied facility. As a technical means to minimize the consequences of unbalanced power consumption, the author proposed the balancing device, which improves the quality of electrical energy by up to 90% and reduces its additional losses by over 70%. Conclusions. The concept of using specialized balancing devices as a means of increasing the efficiency of using electrical energy was confirmed. The results may be in demand by specialists of organizations involved in the design of urban power supply systems, as well as researchers in the field of electric energy quality and reduction of its losses.
