Dynamic model of an induction motor with a three-phase combined stator winding using MATLAB/Simulink

Relevance. Induction motors with combined windings exhibit enhanced energetic parameters compared to traditional motors. However, the electromagnetic processes in motors with combined windings are significantly more complex than those in classical machines, making the development of adequate dynamic models a highly relevant scientific and engineering task. Given the necessity of improving the energy efficiency, reliability, and stability of operation modes in induction motor drives, which are widely utilized in industrial enterprises, mine ventilation systems, and other installations of mining facilities, the development of a dynamic model for an induction motor with a combined winding is of paramount importance. This model is essential for evaluating the effectiveness of such a design, as it enables the investigation of transient electromagnetic and electromechanical processes, determines the effect of the combined winding on the energetic and mechanical characteristics of the motor, and allows for their comparison with the characteristics of a motor featuring a traditional stator winding. Aim. Development and research of a generalized dynamic model for studying and assessing the dynamic state of a three-phase induction motor with a combined stator winding using MATLAB/Simulink software. Methods. The method of complex vector approach for modeling and simulation in the MATLAB/Simulink environment. Results and conclusions. The dq-coordinate transformation was applied to the voltage, current, and magnetic flux equations, enabling the dynamic characteristics of the induction machine to be obtained and analyzed. Dynamic simulation of a four-pole, 0.37 kW induction motor was performed using MATLAB/Simulink. The results showed that, under steady-state operating conditions, the motor current was 0.65 A in the star configuration and 0.39 A in the delta configuration. The electromagnetic torque was 2.504 N·m, and the rotational speed reached 1412 rpm. The modeling method presented in this article can be readily adapted to various types of electrical machines and drive systems.
